My Everyday Sketch Kit
I get a lot of questions about my kit, and what colors I use, so I thought I'd do a post on my materials and the palettes I use. This is my usual kit, though I add as necessary depending on where I'm going, or if I'm working bigger.
Brushes, large to small: Princeton Neptune Synthetic Squirrel #12 Round
Princeton Neptune Synthetic Squirrel #8 Round
Princeton Neptune Synthetic Squirrel #6 Round
Princeton Neptune Synthetic Squirrel #4 Round
Pens:
.3mm Draft/Matic Mechanical Pencil (along with extra lead and a bit of kneaded eraser)
Sakura Pigma Graphic Pens (I usually carry the 1, .08, .03, .005, in black and a .01 in brown, but one is missing here)
Pencil Case: Cubix Round Zip Box Pencil Case
Sketch Board: Woodward and Father Original Sketch Board
Palette: Woodward and Father Standard and Unlimited Palettes (I'll usually pack one or the other but for long trips sometimes bring both)
Water cups: Nalgene 2 oz; I bring a spare (or more!) so I don't have to worry about getting fresh water along the way, or ditching out my gross water. It's nice to be able to close the dirty water, take out a fresh cup, and keep going.
Spray bottle (for wetting palette on dry days)
A handful of binder clips to clip my palette, sketch, and some paper towel to my board as I work. Usually with extras in case they get lost!
Not pictured: Sunglasses, phone, Ipod, half a paper towel.
I usually use Fluid Hot Press Easy Blocks for urban sketching, since they're tiny and contained.
Though this is what I have with me most of the time, if I'm going out for a day of sketching I usually bring this stool, this seat cushion, and this clip light (link is to amazon but I got mine locally at a Barnes and Noble)

Sometimes adding Quin Gold and Payne's Gray. It's what I used for these paintings and my workshop last month!
I'm going to Disney World next week, and naturally I'm planning on sketching. Planning on making a couple new palettes for that, so stay tuned! I really like my Bryant Park Palette, but when you're going more for architecture than trees there's really no reason to have that much green.
Also, in case anyone was wondering, this is the palette I used for my QoR review in July. I had a few more colors but this was what I brought with me urban sketching.
