Monday Night in Lower Manhattan

Last week I went with a friend to dinner at Freeman's, one of my favorite restaurants. I decided to do a sketch before dinner, of the restaurant itself! I did this as the sun set, so the lighting changed drastically in the 40ish minutes I was working on it. I'll definitely go back at some point and do a nocturne of it, only starting to paint when it's fully dark out.

After dinner it was late, but I wasn't tired and didn't have to be up the next day, so I wandered over and sketched in Washington Square Park. Did you know the park closes at midnight? I didn't! The police come in a vehicle and broadcast on their horns that everyone has to leave the park. Luckily I was about done anyway...maybe it's good they came and kept me from overworking my sketch!
